Prof. Paul Barrett
BSc (Psychology), PhD | LinkedInPaul Barrett completed his BSc in Psychology and Mathematical Statistics at the University of Exeter, UK in 1978, and began his academic research career under the supervision of the late Paul Kline, completing his PhD in the psychometrics of personality tests in 1981. From there he moved to work with the late Hans Eysenck at the Institute of Psychiatry in London, working on the measurement of human intelligence and personality using bioelectric potentials (EEG, median nerve conduction, and skin conductance), and chronometrics (reaction times & inspection times).
Paul Barrett is currently Managing Director of Advanced Projects R&D Ltd. (a private NZ psychological assessment R&D research company), a Scientific Adviser to Hogan Assessment Systems Inc (USA) and Psytech International Ltd. (UK). He is also an Honorary Professor of Psychology at the University of Auckland (NZ) and adjunct Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Canterbury (NZ). Previously, he was Chief Research Scientist at Hogan Assessment Systems, Tulsa, USA for 3 years. Dr. Barrett received his Ph.D. in personality psychometrics from the University of Exeter, UK, where Paul Kline was his supervisor. He was a research scientist at the University of London’s Institute of Psychiatry (working with Hans and Sybil Eysenck) for 14 years, Chief Scientist at two of the UK’s High Security Forensic Psychiatric hospitals, Chief Psychologist at Mariner7 (Carter Holt Harvey plc, NZ), and adjunct Professor of Psychometrics at the University of Auckland, NZ. The 3 years spent with Mariner 7 (a Carter Holt Harvey Plc company) as their Chief Psychologist, developing and extending the graphical profiler psychological assessment technology was also highly significant in terms of future product development.
His research interests include profile construction methodologies, prediction and classifier construction, as well as developing next-generation psychological assessment tools and their associated analysis methodologies. He is an author of several commercial psychological test instruments and an author of over 100 research articles and book chapters. He is an associate editor of the journal Personality and Individual Differences, a member of the editorial board of the journal Evolutionary Psychology, and a consulting editor for the Journal of Personality Assessment, Journal of Experimental Education, and Frontiers in Quantitative Psychology and Measurement. He is a UK BPS Chartered Psychologist and UK Chartered Scientist.

Dr Sarah Burke
Owner, OPRA Consulting Group
BSc (Psychology), PhD | LinkedInSarah has worked in the recruitment and wider human resources industry since 1994 and has a well established track record in HR consulting. In her early career, Sarah spent 6 years with an international management consulting practice where she developed her expertise and speciality in I/O psychology. In 1997, Burke became co-director and owner of OPRA Consulting Group, with a base in Wellington, New Zealand. Since this time, Sarah has remained personally active in strategy implementation and business performance enhancement with a broad client base in both the private and public sector. In 2009, Sarah graduated from the Victoria University School of Management with a PhD in Management.
Of particular interest to Dr Sarah Burke is working with organisations to assist them translate strategy into action, and designing recruitment, on-boarding, and talent management initiatives to maximise staff return on investment.

Dr Duncan Jackson
Assistant Professor at the University of Seoul
BSc (Psychology), PhD | LinkedInDuncan Jackson is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Seoul, South Korea, in the Human Resource Management Program. He is also Director of the Research Center for Personnel Selection and Promotion at Assesta Group. He earned his Doctorate from Massey University in Auckland, New Zealand and served as a Senior Lecturer in New Zealand for six years prior to moving to Seoul.
Duncan’s primary research interest is in task-based assessment centers with a particular focus on psychological and situational factors that affect behavior. His work has been published in some of the top journals in industrial organizational psychology including the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, Human Performance, and the International Journal of Selection and Assessment. Duncan has consulted to a broad range of large and small organizations in both the private and public sectors. He has developed assessment center programs for a range of organizations and has also served as an assessment center trainer and assessor.

Dr Glenn S Brown
BSc(Hons) (Psychology), PhD | LinkedInGlenn Brown has an academic background in psychology, coupled with technical nous and considerable experience with information systems. Previously a lecturer in e-commerce, Glenn is well positioned to ensure that innovative, scientifically robust recruitment solutions can become a commercial reality in today’s increasingly integrated online environment.
Glenn completed his Bachelor of Science with Honours (First Class) in psychology at the University of Otago in New Zealand. A Claude McCarthy Fellow, his subsequent Doctoral research involved the behavioural analysis and mathematical modelling of memory performance. His academic work – published in respected international journals – introduced novel approaches to quantifying performance in behavioural tasks. Glenn has lectured at the University of Otago and Massey University in subjects as diverse as quantitative analysis, comparative cognition, and e-business.
In the commercial arena, Glenn has been active in the field of industrial and organisational psychology since 2004. With a background in computer programming and information technology, he has developed and supported an array of computerised and online e-commerce applications, including leading-edge psychometric assessment technology. An innovator by nature, Glenn aims to advance the use of data-intensive analytical methods for improving recruitment success.
