Successfully Utilising Twitter Job Posting – Recruit from a Larger Pool
What is Twitter?
Twitter is a popular social networking "microblogging" site that you can use to promote job opportunities. It is refreshingly simple and different. It is a service for friends, family, co-workers and business contacts to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick and frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?
How does Twitter Work?
These short messages are then distributed in real time via the web or SMS. Whereas Facebook uses the label of "friend" as the transactional unit for its exchanges, Twitter uses "follower". If you are a follower of a particular account, then you get the updates for that account. You "follow" that person or company.
Twitter imposes limits in terms of what can be sent and how often, but typically these limits don't get on the way of what is considered normal usage. As they put it, "We embrace the idea that constraint inspires creativity". For instance, you can have 1000 updates per day through any of the devices you use to connect to Twitter (web, phone). You can only send 250 direct messages per day. Each message, or tweet, can have a maximum of 160 characters, including 20 characters for the username.
How can Twitter be Used in the Context of a Recruitment Process?
Twitter has the power to create and participate in public conversations in real time. This enables your company to have:
Recruiters acting as followers can undertake "brand monitoring" as a business intelligence process
They can then mine this power by gathering relevant information about recruitment services opportunities.
Promote jobs to potential jobseekers that have become followers and the conversations become job updates.
More and more recruiters are embracing this technology to connect with candidates quickly and effectively. Make sure your recruitment software is able to help you connect with this powerful social media.
