    Therese has 10 years working in the HR field, 5 years as Recruitment Manager for Sydney Water, revamping the recruitment function from a manual process to an online recruitment function. She has presented at numerous conferences on reward and recognition, work life balance and recruitment.

    Therese started her career as a graduate at Sydney Water, moving through both operational and corporate HR. Her portfolios have included entry level programs, policy development, reward and recognition, diversity and recruitment and retention. Therese took over the Recruitment Manager position in 2006 responsible for recruitment, employer branding and work life balance. In this time Therese Harris has revamped the recruitment function and work life balance portfolio which has resulted in Sydney Water winning awards for its women in leadership program and work life balance initiatives and receiving high commendation for its recruitment practices.

    Career Milestones: working in fast paced, ambitious organisations where HR professionals need quickly demonstrate a commercial understanding of the business in order to provide meaningful HR advice and service.

    Personal interests: “holding it together” in a busy household with young kids; and when time allows singing!

    Vanessa originally commenced her career in Information Technology at a leading Australian investment bank. In 1994, she made a career change and moved into the field of recruitment. For several years Vanessa managed the bank’s national graduate recruitment function. She then progressed into a generalist HR role, working on projects including a major performance management project, staff engagement surveys and a promotions framework.

    Having “grown up” in investment banking, it was time to explore some other industries and Vanessa has since worked in professional services, retail banking and the small business sector.

    Over this time, her experience has spanned all facets of human resources, including HR strategy, recruitment, performance management, learning & development, HR metrics, HR policies and systems. In 2007, Vanessa graduated from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management with a Masters of Management in Human Resources, achieving 1st place in the subject Organisational Behaviour. Vanessa now specialises in HR projects and often lead projects that have a technology focus.

    Of particular interest to Vanessa is implementing solutions that help people engage with an organisation and solutions that enable an HR team to operate more effectively.

    Dane Barber has been working in training, learning and development for the past 6 years starting as a front-line sales and management trainer, moving into a national sales and compliance training manager role for a sales and marketing company to now as Learning and Development consultant for the Exego Group. Dane has spent the last 2-3 years focused primarily on project implementation of e-learning and eRecruitment systems. Previously worked as a sales and compliance manager, team leader and business analyst.

    Some of Dane's career highlights include leading a national training and development team for AGL resulting in field sales increase of 500% over 3 year period; Creating and development of e-learning system for national roll out to 1000 employeesl and a 2 yr church volunteer mission in Japan.
